There was blood stained in the hotel room where Nick Reiner was staying, arrested on suspicion of stabbing his parents, director Rob Reiner and producer Michele Reiner, on the day the couple died. The information comes from TMZ.
The hotel shower was covered in blood, which was also found on the bed. The website also states that hotel staff found the windows covered with sheets.
According to TMZ, Nick checked into the Pierside Santa Monica Hotel near Los Angeles around 4 a.m. on Sunday (14), just hours before the couple’s bodies were found in the Brentwood neighborhood. The previous night he had been involved in a fight with his father at TV presenter Conan O’Brien’s Christmas party.
People interviewed by TMZ say Nick appeared upset when he arrived at the hotel, but these witnesses found no visible signs that he had been involved in a violent confrontation. There were, according to the website, no bloodstains or cuts on his body.
He paid for the reservation, for just one day, with his own credit card, and never left the hotel. The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) found and arrested Nick approximately 20 miles from the hotel in Exposition Park, near downtown Los Angeles.
TMZ also states that the local police’s Robbery and Homicide Division was at the hotel on Monday (16), photographing the scene, collecting evidence and interviewing employees of the business. The information they obtained has not been officially released.
According to people interviewed by The New York Times on condition of anonymity, Nick’s behavior alarmed those at Conan O’Brien’s party. He got into an argument with his father during the meeting in West Los Angeles. One of those present recalled hearing Rob Reiner tell his son that his behavior was inappropriate.
Nick Reiner, who wore a sweatshirt while the other guests were in business attire, seemed anxious and uncomfortable in a way that left those in attendance “deeply disturbed,” according to one of these people. The discussion reportedly centered on his history of substance abuse, a topic the family has discussed publicly on previous occasions.
Rob Reiner was an actor and director responsible for films such as “Stand By Me”, “Crazy Obsession” and “Harry and Sally – Made for Each Other”. His wife, Michele Singer, was a producer, actress and photographer.
The semi-autobiographical film “Being Charlie,” released in 2016, tells the story of a Los Angeles teenager who abused drugs and had a difficult relationship with his father. The film was directed by Rob and Nick Reiner, who was 22 at the time and had been in and out of rehab since he was 15.
A statement from the Los Angeles Police Department released Monday afternoon said an initial investigation concluded that the couple was the victim of a homicide and that the victims’ son was responsible for the killings. Nick is being held without bail.
