Rob Reiner’s family has spoken out for the first time following the deaths of the director and his wife, Michele Reiner. The couple was found dead inside the home where they lived in Southern California last Sunday (12/14), in a case that remains under investigation by local authorities.
In a statement sent to Variety magazine, family members confirmed the deaths and asked for respect for mourning. “It is with deep sadness that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner. We are devastated by this sudden loss and ask for privacy during this incredibly difficult time,” the statement said.
According to sources interviewed by the American press, the bodies showed wounds caused by knives and the case is being treated as a homicide. To date, no arrests have been made. The Los Angeles medical examiner’s office has not yet released the official cause of death.
