Singer Roberto Carlos suffered an accident in the early hours of Sunday, in Gramado, Serra Gaúcha, while participating in the recording of the opening clip of TV Globo’s traditional end-of-year special. At the time of the incident, the artist was driving a 1960 Cadillac model, which was used in production.
According to the military brigade’s road command, the vehicle suffered a mechanical failure of the braking system while climbing a steep slope. Out of control, the car ended up reversing into the lane and colliding with three other vehicles that were at the scene. The Cadillac then struck a tree.
After the accident, Roberto Carlos and three others involved were transported to an area hospital to undergo medical examinations. According to RBS TV reports, everyone was assessed and released, with no serious injuries reported.
The singer was in Gramado exclusively for the recording of TV Globo’s end-of-year special, the production of which included the scenes being filmed at the time of the accident.
