Real Madrid opened the scoring in the 30th minute. Jude Bellingham found a perfect pass for Rodrygo on the edge of the area. The match became even more exciting in the final minutes of the first half. In the 42nd minute, the referee was called by VAR to review a movement in the area, during which Antonio Rüdiger pulled Haaland during a cross. The penalty was confirmed, the Real defender received a yellow card and, with the penalty, Haaland replaced Courtois and confirmed Manchester City’s 2 x 1 victory.
Even at a disadvantage, Real Madrid created. Vinícius Júnior and Bellingham came close to the goal in two dangerous plays, in addition to Rodrygo, who attempted set pieces and crosses. But the conclusion lacks fantasy.
The second half started with great control of possession in which Real Madrid threatened with quick transitions and individual plays from their attackers. It was rushed and with a lot of sweat. Endrick joined at age 78, after a month in the reserves. He had two chances to score, but failed to find the net.
