On February 8, the Gaudí Awards will celebrate their transition to adulthood in “excellent” health. This is how the director of the Catalan Film Academy, Judith Colell, defined on Tuesday in her parliament the harvest of the eighteenth edition of the Catalan Cinema Festival, before the reading of the nominations at the Auditori de La Pedrera. Announced by Laura Weissmahr and La Dani, respectively winner and finalist of the Gaudí for best new performance of previous editions, the Gaudí list rises Pilgrimageby Carla Simón, with thirteen nominations, followed by Siratof Oliver Laxe, with twelve, and Deafby Eva Libertad, with ten. Lonely afternoonsAlbert Serra’s documentary which won the Golden Shell at the last San Sebastian festival, about the matador Andrés Roca Rey and the world of bullfighting, has six nominations, making this film the most nominated documentary in the history of the Gaudí family.
The second round of voting, open from this Tuesday until January 26, has twenty-nine finalist titles -25 Catalan productions and four European-.
Other notable films from the edition are the thriller story set in 1943 about those who broke the rules to help Jews escape Nazi repression in the Pyrenees. At Gaudí, estrany riu opts for new direction, cinematography (Pablo Paloma), supporting actress (Nausicaa Bonnín), groundbreaking performance (Bernat Solé Palau and Jan Monter Palau), production direction (Andrés Mellinas) and original music (Nika Son).

In the final list they stand out The furyGemma Blasco’s first film about a rape based on the myth of Medea, with six nominations—Original screenplay by Gemma Blasco accompanied by Eva Pauné, acting categories for Ángela Cervantes and Carla Linares and Makeup and Hairstyling for Danae Gatell and Ale Salvat—. The intimate Love me boththe first feature film by actor, playwright and screenwriter Iván Morales, who adapts his theatrical text to build a choral story about self-love and the love we build with others, has five nominations – New Direction, Adapted Screenplay (Iván Morales and Almudena Monzó), Leading Male Role (Álvaro Cervantes) and Actor in a Supporting Role (Ivan Massagué) -. The same as you Molting llunythe first feature film by writer and actor Gerard Oms, inspired by his own experience as an emigrant, with nominations for New Direction and Original Screenplay for Oms, Editing for Neus Ballús and Leading Actor for Mario Casas. My friend EvaCesc Gay’s film about the identity crisis of an apparently married publishing employee, won two nominations, including that of the original screenplay in the alliance between Eduard Sola and Cesc Gay and that of best actress for Nora Navas. The turtlesthe second film by Belén Funes on the rural exodus of the 70s after the phenomenon A Thief’s Daughter obtains three nominations, including Original Screenplay (Belén Funes and Marçal Cebrian) and Revolutionary Performance (Elvira Lara). Celia Rico is nominated for adapted screenplay from The right letterafter winning the Gaudí for best screenplay for Journey to a mother’s room. In this category, the inclusion of Pilgrimage by Carla Simón, considered an adapted screenplay since Simón worked on the text of his mother’s letters.
The film that closes the trilogy on the memory and family of the Catalan after Summer 1993 and Alcarràs is nominated for best film, direction and screenplay and includes ten other nominations in the categories photography (Hélène Louvart), breakthrough performance (Llúcia Garcia), production direction (Elisa Sirvent), original music (Ernest Pipó, Simón’s brother), editing (Sergio Jiménez and Ana Pfaf), artistic direction (Mónica Bernuy), costumes (Anna Aguilà), makeup and hair (Paty López and Paco). Sergi López, actor nominated eight times and still without a prize, returns to the Gaudí Awards nominated for his work in trance in the Moroccan desert of Sirat, Jury Prize at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival and selected in the Oscar race for best foreign language film. Oliver Laxe’s film has twelve nominations: direction for Oliver Laxe and photography for Mauro Herce; Editing (Cristóbal Fernández); Artistic direction (Laia Ateca); Costumes (Nadia Acimi); Makeup and hair (Zaira Eva Aden); Visual effects (Pep Claret, Lluís Rivera and Benjamin Ageorges); Sound (Amanda Villavieja, Laia Casanovas and Yasmina Praderas); Production Direction (Oriol Maymó) and Original Music (Kangding Ray).

Deafwritten and directed by Eva Libertad and based on her short film of the same name, about the complexity of facing motherhood with deafness, has ten Gaudí nominations, including direction and adapted screenplay (Eva Libertad), female protagonist (Miriam Garlo), actress and supporting actor (Elena Irureta and Álvaro Cervantes), production direction (Goretti Pagès), sound (Urko Garai, Enrique G. Bermejo and Alejandro Castillo, also nominated for Romería), Artistic Direction (Anna Auquer) and Costumes (Désirée Guirao and Angélica Muñoz).
In the Best Film category, five titles compete for the first time: Love me both, estrany riu, Molting lluny, Border and comedy drama Wolfgangby Javier Ruiz Caldera, about a child prodigy with a high IQ and autism spectrum disorder who must live with a father he has never met, a film for which Clara Peya was also nominated for Best Original Score.
