The helicopter of the Emergency and Rescue Group (GES) rescued this Sunday a runner, a 56-year-old man, who had fallen on a slope towards a difficult to access area during a marathon.
The athlete was moderately injured during K42 … Anaga Marathon, in Tenerife, more precisely after the accident around 2:45 p.m. in the Chinamada area of the Anaga Rural Park, in the municipality of La Laguna.
The GES helicopter attended the scene and rescued the athlete and evacuated him to Tenerife North Airport.
The staff of the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) verified that the person concerned was suffering from various blue of moderate nature, the injured athlete was therefore evacuated by air to Tenerife North Airport.
After he landed, SUC staff took care of his transfer to the hospital. He was transferred by ambulance to the Nuestra Señora de Candelaria University Hospital.
