Moscow, December 15 (EFE). – Russian anti-aircraft forces shot down 217 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. 18 of them were intercepted near the Russian capital, the Russian Defense Ministry reported today.
“On December 14 between 8:00 p.m. Moscow time and 11:00 p.m. Moscow time (8:00 p.m. GMT), anti-aircraft forces intercepted and destroyed 71 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones,” the Russian command said in a note posted on Telegram.
The Ministry of Defense later released two more reports in which it reported the downing of 130 Ukrainian drones between 23:00 Moscow time and 07:00 Moscow time (04:00 GMT) and another 16 aircraft between 07:00 and 08:00 local time.
The most affected region was Rostov, which was subjected to an attack by 60 drones.
As local governor Yuri Slusar reported on Telegram, the cities of Rostov-on-Don, Kamensk, Novoshakhtinsk and nine other municipalities in the region suffered a “massive attack.”
“Fortunately, there were no injuries (…) In Rostov, two cars parked next to a house caught fire. The owner of one of the cars, who tried to put out the fire, suffered burns on his hand. He received medical attention but did not want to be hospitalized,” he wrote.
In addition, several homes suffered damage to roofs and windows.
The regions of Astrakhan (38), Bryansk (35) and Belgorod (11) were also affected by the attacks in the last 12 hours.
Drones were also shot down over the Azov and Caspian Seas.
The Moscow region was attacked by 29 drones, fifteen of which headed for the Russian capital, leading to the temporary closure of Domodiédovo and Zhukovsky airports south of the city.EFE
