As the Russian Defense Ministry announced this Thursday (December 11, 2025), Russian air defense shot down 287 Ukrainian drones last Wednesday evening. This was Ukraine’s second-largest attack against the Russian rear since last March, when it fired 337 devices in one night.
“Last night (…) anti-aircraft forces intercepted and destroyed 287 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones,” the Russian military command said on Telegram.
The worst-hit Russian region was Bryansk, where 118 drones were shot down.
In the Kaluga region, 200 kilometers south of the Russian capital, 40 drones were neutralized, the same number as in the Moscow region, where the attacks forced the suspension of work at four airports and the diversion of almost 140 flights.
According to Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, 32 of the crashed planes were on their way to the capital.
In the Tula region, known for its weapons factories, 27 drones were destroyed, and 19 were shot down in Novgorod.
In the city of Veliky Novgorod, the drones reached the Akron mineral fertilizer factory, according to the Telegram channels Shot and Astra.
Yaroslavl (11), Lipetsk (10), Smolensk (6), Kursk (5), Oryol (5), Voronezh (4) and Ryazan (2) regions were also attacked.
The Russian Civil Aviation Authority Rosaviatsia reported disruptions in airport traffic in the Russian cities of Ivanovo, Tambov, Yarloslavl, Vladikavkaz, Grozny, Matas, Makhachkala and Kaluga.
Ukraine launches attack drones against Russian territory on a daily basis with the aim of damaging its energy system and especially its oil processing capacities, damaging the Russian army’s logistics and depriving Russia of this important source of funding.
