MADRID, December 27 (EUROPA PRESS) –
At least one person died and 32 were injured, including eleven hospitalized, following a Russian air attack last night on Ukraine’s capital, kyiv, currently the scene of numerous power outages and widespread heating outages.
The latest assessment was provided by the National Police of Ukraine, after the mayor of the capital, Vitali Klitschko, denounced on his Telegram account the material scale of an attack which left a third of the city without heating, counting more than 2,600 residential buildings, 187 kindergartens, 138 schools and 22 social institutions in the capital.
The deceased was identified as a 71-year-old man who was buried under rubble after a Russian missile hit in the Dnipro district. His wife, aged 70, is hospitalized in serious condition.
The Police continue to work in the seven affected neighborhoods in the capital with a system of more than 200 agents dedicated exclusively to debris removal.
The attack, it should be remembered, occurred less than 48 hours before an expected meeting in the United States between the Ukrainian president, Volodimir Zelensky, and his American counterpart, Donald Trump, to try to definitively promote a peace agreement.
In his assessment of the attack, Zelensky confirmed that air defense forces neutralized 474 drones and 29 missiles that Russians have used to attack Ukraine since the night of December 26 and insisted that bombings like tonight’s are the umpteenth example that Russian President Vladimir Putin has no intention of negotiating peace.
“This is the true attitude of Putin and his entourage: they do not want to end the war and seek to take advantage of any opportunity to cause even more suffering to Ukraine and increase pressure on other countries,” denounced Zelensky, already on his way to the United States with a previous stopover in Canada, where he will meet Prime Minister Mark Carney.
