The last release of 2025 released, last Monday (22/12), 1,689 semi-open prisoners who obtained the benefit of provisional release to spend Christmas with their families. However, a group of 12 people have already been returned to prison because they had not respected the measures imposed by law. Thus, 1,677 prisoners must report this Friday (26/12) to serve their sentence.
However, it is common for some prisoners granted provisional release not to return. According to the National Council of Justice (CNJ), the average number of detainees who do not return is around 4%. In the Federal District, however, the latest outings recorded a lack of yield of just over 1%.
During the November release, 24 of the 1,631 inmates did not return to the prison system on the scheduled date, which represents 1.47%. At Christmas 2024, the percentage of non-returned prisoners corresponded to 1.46%. Of the 1,842 released, 27 did not return on the indicated date, as shown in the chronicle of Tacio Lorran, in Metropolises.
Temporary exits
Temporary exits, commonly known as Saidões, are provided for in the Criminal Execution Law. The legislation guarantees that those “serving their sentence in a semi-open regime will be able to obtain authorization to temporarily leave the penitentiary establishment, without direct supervision, to visit family members, study abroad and carry out other activities contributing to their return to social life”.
During the night, detainees must maintain good behavior and are prohibited from going to bars and nightclubs. In addition, they must not commit serious disciplinary offenses or any type of crime. Detainees must also return to the official address by 6 p.m.
