The Secretary of the Interior Diego Santilli and the Governor of Tucumán Osvaldo Jaldo met this Friday at the Casa Rosada to discuss the progress and details of the 2026 budget project that will be presented next week in the National Congress and to analyze the bills that will be debated during the extraordinary sessions.
The meeting was also attended by the country’s Finance Minister Carlos Guberman and Tucumán’s Economy Minister Daniel Abad to examine the economic details.
In this way, the Ministry of the Interior has promoted dialogue with the various Heads of State and Government, with the aim of reaching a consensus on the basis of the legislative package that the Executive has sent for the extraordinary sessions.
Authoritarians don’t like that
The practice of professional and critical journalism is a mainstay of democracy. That is why it bothers those who believe that they are the owners of the truth.
Jaldo kept his deputies outside the Unión por la Patria bloc, although they were placed on the lists together on October 26.
After the meeting, Jaldo emphasized the importance of further strengthening the relationship between Cas Rosada and the province. “Dialogue with the nation was important,” said the provincial leader.
“What Tucumán needs is that we be compensated for the loss of revenue. The idea is that this debt settlement will serve, in a way, to compensate for the resources not received,” said Jaldo.
Although a final agreement has not yet been reached, the governor appreciated the opportunity to further advance the dialogue. “They have their own numbers. We have provided our data with updated numbers and they have committed to studying them,” the president said.
A salient fact after the meeting is that the governor confirmed that Tucumán is the province that has received the most contributions from the State Treasury (ATN) since the beginning of Javier Milei’s administration. This is an amount that amounts to 20,000 million US dollars.
This contribution was requested under the Water Emergency Law, with the aim of carrying out prevention and maintenance tasks, especially in view of the rainy season, and tackling other important public services.
“The province carries out this work not only with the ATN, but also with its own resources. We have machines and equipment in practically most of the rivers and basins of Tucumán,” explained Jaldo.
Santilli continues to hold meetings with executives. There are no support definitions for now in the 2026 budget, but it is expected that the ruling party will have no problems passing the “law of laws” before December 30.
The fact is that the chief of staff, Manuel Adorni, was not present. Given his presence, it is a rarity that the coordinating minister attended most of the meetings with heads of state and government. A circumstance that in turn shows Karina Mileis’ distrust of “Colo”.
This does not prevent Santilli from continuing to establish relations with allied governors and from always excluding Axel Kicillof, Ricardo Quintela, Gustavo Mellela and Gildo Insfrán from the negotiating round.
Nevertheless, Adorni appointed Ignacio Devitt to the Secretariat for Strategic Affairs, whose task will be, among other things, liaison with both chambers of the National Congress.
Jaldo has so far played as an ally of the government in the Chamber of Deputies. He has a group of three MPs answering to him, and these votes (or absences) were crucial in the first two years of the Libertarian government in the House of Commons.
