Marcelo Teixeira, president of Santos, spoke to the press after the Brazilian Championship awards ceremony and spoke about the renewal of Neymar, who has a contract with Peixe until December 31 of this year.
“The renewal of Neymar, which is currently Santos’ priority, goes through the budget. If we have a budget, it is based on what we can spend. We are talking and negotiating to find a common denominator, adapting Neymar’s current contract for 2026. There is a good intention from him, from NR, from the player and from Santos. This is already a good principle. Now, in this adaptation, we must arrive at a positive financial conclusion for both parts”.said the leader.
Marcelo Teixeira also commented on Neymar’s knee surgery, saying there is a good chance he will return in better physical shape in 2026:

We have very positive expectations of a better return, especially because he has been performing well in the last few matches. Neymar’s project, when he returns to Brazil and Santos, is with a view to next year’s World Cup. He is settled, he is at home…”
The director also spoke again about Neymar’s contract renewal and revealed that the new contract could be valid until mid-2026:
