Santos will terminate the contract of defender Luiz Felipe at the end of the current season, at the end of his contract, as part of the restructuring of the team for 2026. The decision is a consequence of the review of old agreements concluded by the club and ends a relationship which began in 2016.
Luiz Felipe played his last match with Peixe in 2023. He came on in stoppage time in the 4-3 victory against Goiás, in Vila Belmiro. The defender played his last match as a starter in the goalless draw against Blooming, in the group stage of the 2023 South American Championship. Alvinegro was already eliminated from the competition.
During his time at the club, Luiz Felipe participated in 171 matches. He scored five goals during the period, in national and international competitions.
Luiz Felipe’s career at Santos
Luiz Felipe was revealed by Paraná Clube and signed by Santos in 2016. The period in which the player played the most in the Peixe jersey was between 2016 and 2019. However, muscle injuries interrupted the defender’s continuity in the team.
From 2020, thanks to strong competition in the defensive sector, the player lost place in the squad. The alternative found by Santos to keep the athlete active was to loan him to other clubs, such as Atlético-GO and Goiás.
It is worth remembering that, even after relegation, in 2023, the defender remained under contract with Peixe. To this end, he agreed to adapt to the new salary policy adopted by the management in 2024. The club and the defender also agreed to extend the contract until the end of 2025.
In 2025, Luiz Felipe defended Goiás in the Brasileirão Series B dispute and will be free on the market after ten years linked to Santos. The club is thus carrying out a new adjustment of the workforce.
