
This Thursday, the Town Hall took a new step in its commitment to modernize the social housing stock, with the implementation of a pioneering measure: “Housing Sevillea renovation and maintenance plan with three million euros for improvements totaling 2,071 apartments for rent -of the 3,000 of this type that Emvisesa has distributed in 25 housing estates-, where they reside 10,000 tenants.
The works, which They will begin in the first half of 2026, with a completion time of one year.will be carried out in a total of 20 developments more than two decades old. Concretely, interventions will be carried out on the islands, installations and common areas according to the technical needs of each person.
Thus, among the other planned interventions, there will be improved insulation and energy efficiencywith the installation or renovation of thermal solar panels and the waterproofing of roofs and facades; Actions will also be taken to improve accessibility with the construction of ramps, automatic doors and the renovation of 85 elevators; Sanitation networks, pressure groups and fire protection systems will be replaced; and lighting will be provided in common areas and structural and security elements will be repaired and updated.
The mayor, José Luis Sanz, presented this morning the program, which responds to a “historical request“property managers, community presidents and neighbors themselves and which seeks to “modernize” the municipal real estate stock, “guarantee” safe, accessible and efficient environments, improving the “quality of life” of its residents. At the same time, it contributes to strengthening “social cohesion” between neighborhoods and “revaluing” public heritage.
In this sense, the first mayor stressed that with this measure “we become a pioneer capital in this type of initiatives to maintain the social housing stock”, at the same time as he affirmed his management based on “facts and not smoke”, recalling the first 16 stones already laid since his arrival at the City Hall, of which 346 have already been delivered, as part of Emvisesa’s plan to build more than 2,200 VPOs during this mandate.
