The Climate Emergency Management Center (CGE) placed the entire capital of São Paulo on flood alert this Monday afternoon (12/29) due to the rains hitting the city.
Around 6:30 p.m., two floods had already been recorded. One of them is on Rua Pedroso de Morais, near Praça Panamericano, in Pinheiros, west zone, in a passable location. The other flood occurs on Avenida Antônio Munhoz, Vila Bonília, northern zone, with impassable severity.
According to the CGE, at 5:38 p.m., the western zone and Marginal Pinheiros entered a state of alert. The northern and eastern areas, as well as the center and Marginal Tietê, remain under surveillance since 5:20 p.m.
According to the agency, areas of instability formed in the city due to heat combined with the entry of sea breezes, causing isolated rains of varying intensity. The CGE automatic weather stations recorded moderate rains, with weak points, in the eastern zone: in the regions of Penha, Aricanduva/Formosa and Mooca.
In the northern zone, rains are moderate to heavy in neighborhoods like Vila Maria, Jaçanã and in the access regions of Rodovia Dutra and Ayrton Senna to Marginal Tietê. The situation is the same in the western zone, particularly in the sub-prefecture of Pinheiros. There is a risk of flooding, due to the slow movement of areas of instability, in addition to wind gusts that can exceed 50 kilometers per hour.

CGE recommendations
- Avoid driving on flooded streets.
- Do not face currents in flooded areas.
- Seek shelter in a safe place and, if necessary, seek help.
- Stay away from the power grid and do not take shelter under trees.
- Plan your trips to avoid blocked roads.
