The meeting ends early because of the commotion; The PM is triggered
The meeting of the Deliberative Council of São Paulo this Wednesday ended early. The meeting, which was debating the draft budget for 2026, had to be interrupted after supporters tried to invade the main hall of MorumBis.
The protest was not called by any organized supporters. However, among the protesters were members of Torcida Independente, São Paulo’s main supporters group. Military police were called in to avoid further confusion.
This Wednesday, Torcida Independente sent a letter to the president of the Deliberative Council, Olten Abreu, demanding the exclusion from membership of those involved in the cabin 3A project.
Mara Casares and Douglas Schwartzmann, now licensed directors, were recorded in a conversation discussing an illegal scheme to sell tickets to box 3A during MorumBis show nights.
São Paulo opened two investigations (one internal and one external) and referred the case to the Ethics Committee of the Deliberative Council. On Tuesday, the group Frente Democrática em Defesa do São Paulo filed a request asking the public prosecutor to investigate the matter.
“Stinging audio recordings, testimonies from third parties involved, leave no doubt that any external or internal ‘investigation’ already has a verdict: guilty,” says an extract from the Independente letter.
“The São Paulo supporter is at the limit of his rationality and benevolence with so many abuses, scams, schemes and scoundrels, to which are added the well-known advantages of shameful advisors who receive many favors and deliver nothing in a responsible São Paulo,” he concludes.
Voting on São Paulo’s draft budget begins online this Wednesday at 10 p.m. and ends Thursday at 5 p.m. The result raises concerns, as the club faces the worst financial crisis in its history.
Furthermore, the context of recent scandals also exacerbates tempers at MorumBis. Even before the cabin affair, a crisis had been revealed within the medical service of São Paulo.
