São Paulo now has 480 basic health units. The recently delivered UBS, Jardim Kioto – Ignês Fontana Tatto, is located in Capela do Socorro, South Zone. The new equipment adds to the vast expansion of the health, housing, mobility and infrastructure network, which already exceeds the 2 billion reais in investments of the current management.
Located on Rua Dunquerque, UBS Jardim Kioto is a landmark for one of the city’s fastest-growing neighborhoods, currently home to more than 650,000 residents.
With an investment of more than 13 million reais, the unit arrives fully equipped, accessible and ready to provide up to 11,000 visits per month in primary care — the gateway to medical care in municipal health units and essential for the continued care of the population.
With an investment of more than 13 million reais, UBS Jardim Kioto joins more than 50 public health facilities in the Capela do Socorro region.
The site has 83 professionals, including five Family Health Strategy (ESF) teams and three Oral Health teams.
There are five general practitioners, three dentists, five nurses, 11 nursing technicians, 30 community health workers (CHAs), as well as a physiotherapist, nutritionist, speech therapist, psychiatrist, occupational therapist, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and support professionals.
With the arrival of UBS, the Capela do Socorro region now has 57 public health facilities, including the Women’s Examination Center, six Caps, two specialized rehabilitation centers, outpatient medical assistance, therapeutic residence services and the territory’s municipal hospital.
In addition to the UBS Jardim Kioto, the town hall has expanded the health facility in the southern area of the city. Six other basic health units and one emergency care unit (UPA) are under construction or receiving new facilities.

Area residents celebrated the unit’s arrival, highlighting the direct impact on their routine and access to healthcare.
Financial analyst André Luiz da Silva, 49, closely followed the struggle to build UBS. “Anyone who grew up in the neighborhood knows that this equipment has been awaited since 2008. We will now have a better quality of life and I will schedule my review,” he said.
For Célia Andrade de Jesus, 64, a housewife, proximity is synonymous with practicality and care. “I came to bring my grandson and I’ve already taken the opportunity to see the doctor. It’s great to be able to walk and do everything in one place.”
Manicurist Irene de Jesus Oliveira Almeida, 68, stressed the importance of the complete structure: “It’s great for us. Now I go to the clinic, have exams, take medicine… very close to home.”
