In the afternoon of this Friday the 12th, SBT organized the launch event of SBT News, the group’s first news channel, and used a deep fake by Silvio Santos, a version of the presenter recreated by artificial intelligence, to address the guests, among whom were the main authorities of the country, such as President Lula (PT), Minister Alexandre de Moraes and the Governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans).
During the event, a hologram of Silvio Santos, created from archive audio and images, delivered a keynote speech.
“Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, good evening, auditorium. Today is a very special day. I am very happy to see so many important people gathered here. I would like to thank the authorities, businessmen, guests, my work colleagues and, of course, my family, who has always supported me in everything that I have invented. Now it is my turn to support my wife, Íris, my daughters, Cintia, Silvia, Daniela, Rebeca and Renata,” the hologram said.
“When I started in television, no one imagined that one day we would have a channel only for news, 24 hours a day. At that time, people said: ‘Who will put up with this, Silvio?’. Well, time has passed, the world has changed and so has the way of communicating. Today, correct and professional information is essential to help people grow, live together and make the country stronger,” added Silvio’s version Santos created by AI.
The hologram also referred to the letter written by the communicator in 1981, during the launch of the television channel, in which he highlighted the pillars that would support the channel and the good journalistic practices that SBT should follow.
SBT News will go online next Monday 15, from 6:30 p.m., with news programs broadcast 24 hours a day. The news channel will be available on operators. Claro TV, Vivo, Sky and Oi and on Fast Samsung, LG, AOC and Roku systems.
