The president of SBT, Daniela Beyruti, one of the daughters of Silvio Santos, published an open letter to refute the criticism addressed to the channel for having received President Lula and STF Minister Alexandre de Moraes during the launch of SBT News, Friday (12).
“In recent days, my family has been the target of criticism, even before we presented our proposal to SBT News. This is exactly what we want to fight: the lack of dialogue between a people who have many virtues and whom we love so much,” she said.
“Over the last five years, SBT has been recognized by research carried out by the Reuters Institute as the most reliable and credible journalism. Our journalism follows a letter with principles from my father and founder. It is precisely thanks to this research and this letter with these principles that we had the courage to open an information channel with the proposal to transmit more of what we are and have”, continues Daniela.
“We are impartial and impartial. It is up to us to show the facts and for the public to judge them,” said the president of the channel.
She also affirms that “the launch of the project, last Friday December 12, reflected this plurality and respect for all institutions. We had representatives from the Executive, the Judiciary and the Legislative”.
One of the main criticisms came from singer Zezé Di Camargo. In a video posted on his networks, he said he intended to break with the channel due to the presence of Lula and Moraes at the event. The country singer recorded the Christmas special “É Amor” on SBT, scheduled to air next Wednesday (17).
He said Silvio Santos’ daughters behave differently from their father. “I saw what happened on SBT in the last few days, during the inauguration of SBT News. And I swear to God that this is not part of my thinking. I have nothing against anyone, I ask that Brazil does its best. I support the Brazilian people because I live and depend on the Brazilian people. But, given the situation that I saw, people have completely changed their way of thinking, especially the daughters of Silvio Santos, thinking completely differently from what their father thought…”
In the letter, Daniela said she regrets how the family was “misinterpreted.”
“Before people saw our work, they decided to judge it. We want to offer Brazil reliable journalism, without parties, without bias. Journalism that will not have bias, will not have algorithms, will not cause division and anger between parties, will not be fueled by artificial intelligence and will only give the public information and the truth of the facts,” he wrote.
“We love our country, we support it, we love our people, we work for them and we invite everyone to embark on this project which aims to calm minds. To all those who have doubts or fears, I invite you: watch SBT News. You will see, in practice, quality and independent journalism, which is our brand,” he concluded.
