
The state of Santa Catarina will face, in the coming days, strong meteorological instability due to the approach of an extratropical cyclone in the South. Due to the possibility of strong storms, the Government of Santa Catarina suspended, this Monday (8/12), classes in the public educational network.

State Civil Defense expects severe storms to erupt Monday evening. In Grande Oeste, Alto Vale do Itajaí and Planaltos, the alert is greater, with the possibility of gusts of wind and possible hail. On the coast, maritime traffic causes greater cloudiness and rough seas. Maximum temperatures remain high, with temperatures between 27°C and 31°C across most of the state.

“On Wednesday the 10th, the cyclone moves away towards the high seas and the instability loses its strength. However, the wind increases, with gusts of between 60 and 80 km/h in most regions,” specifies Civil Defense.
The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) issued a red storm alert this Monday (12/8) for a large part of the South, but with repercussions in other states.
In west-central Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina and south-central Paraná, precipitation above 60 mm/h or above 100 mm/day is expected. In addition to the strong storm, regions on alert could experience winds exceeding 100 km/h and hail.
