Allegations were passed on to the new Martín Fierro within a few days
On Sunday there will be a new Martín Fierro: Ventura has organized awards for everything, including this first edition of the gala dedicated to streamers, the protagonists of today’s media ecosystem. But this first edition is full of scandals: there are already allegations, internal complaints and explosive statements that Luzu, Olga, Telefe, personalities in the media and even historical references of the digital format are confronted with.
It all started with the presentation of the categories and the unveiling of the statuettes for the Clip of the Year and the Best Community, chosen by a public vote but through a paid voting system, which immediately caused a storm.
The first conflict arose when Fede Popgold (host of “Patria y Familia” in Luzu) directly questioned the name of her shortlist: “I don’t like the category. Limit sounds like nothing to me, like a chronicle, like it doesn’t fit anywhere. I would have liked to have been there, but not with that name.”
Presenter Paula Chaves introduced the system during her broadcast and explained how to use it: “You can vote for Clip of the Year and Best Community by going to bot.com.ar or sending MF to 3002. There are instructions and it is paid.”
The first to react, therefore, was Nicolás Occhiato, Luzu’s representative and Telefe representative, who distanced himself completely: “From our side, there is no need to spend money to vote for us. They show us the love of the community every day,” he said. The position was so blunt that it disturbed Telefe, who co-organized the ceremony with Olga, and for many it was interpreted as an indirect boycott.
Bernarda Cella, co-founder of Olga, also responded: “We are very interested in the controversy. Making a Martín Fierro costs a lot. It applies to all streaming channels and we have to pull them together.”
For Cella, the decision is part of the financing of the event, which entails a strong technical and economic commitment: “It is a huge effort. I wish there was more support, no controversy.”
Mario Pergolini also agreed: “It’s ridiculous, low, paying to vote is ridiculous. If you can’t organize something without asking for money, make it smaller.”
“If anyone plans to pay to vote for Vorterix, don’t do it. That’s stupid. We don’t need it,” the driver concluded.
Given the chaos, Martín Fierro, owner of the brand, finally issued her own clarification: “APTRA does not participate in the deal announced by Olga. The commercial decisions rest with the successful bidders of the tender.” With this, Luis Ventura distanced himself from the controversial attempt to finance the awards through “crowdfunding,” adding a new branch even though they are already causing controversy everywhere.
