Ama.zo
Peruvian chef Enrique Paredes brings the cuisine of his country to the restaurant’s dishes, particularly from the Amazon region. It’s worth trying the classic ceviche, a recipe using fish marinated in tiger milk (made from fish and seasonings) accompanied by sweet potato mousse and crispy corn. Another suggestion is chaufa rice, sautéed in a pan with vegetables and served with teriyaki-glazed pancetta, kale and crispy quinoa.

Azure of the Sea
It is located on the first floor of the Pinheiros municipal market, where the fish and seafood used in the recipes also come from. From the counter facing the open kitchen, it is possible to closely monitor preparations such as choripolvo, a small sandwich with octopus, chimichurri and aioli. It is worth trying the fish stuffed with farofa shrimp. During the week, they serve pê-efe fish, rice, farofa, pirão and salad.

At the headquarters, inside Morumbis Stadium, lunch and dinner are served in a box in front of the pitch. The omakassê includes a starter, a sashimi, a hot main course, a sushi and a dessert. The menus are different in the other unit of Vila Nova Conceição, whose counter is run by sushi chef Victor Fonseca.

Canton
From chef Marco Espinoza, the restaurant specializes in chifa cuisine, a fusion between the cuisines of Peru and China. A portion of wontón, a dumpling filled with chicken and pork, arrives at the table with a tamarind sauce. Chaufa rice, fried and containing chicken and eggs, is also popular. For dessert, it’s worth trying the chocolate bao filled with ice cream. The house has six units in Brazil: two in Brasilia, two in Rio and two in São Paulo, in Pompeia and Moema.

Here Bistro
The high level of the house’s French cuisine has repeatedly won awards for chef Benny Novak and businessman Renato Ades in the special show The Best of São Paulo Gastronomy, with a total of 11 times on the podium. Good options include steak tartare, green pepper steaks and duck breasts.

Quique Calderón’s Mexican restaurant serves tacos, burritos and quesadillas. One of the highlights is the gobernador taco, made with a wheat flour tortilla stuffed with shrimp, bacon, peppers, onions and cheese au gratin. Gringa al pastor is a quesadilla with meat marinated in annatto sauce, orange juice and spices. On Tuesdays, tacos are served double.

LASSÚ
From the rotating room, on the 28th floor of a building, it is possible to admire part of the city. The menu presents common dishes with Ristorantino, from the same group. This is the case of lasagna with veal ragout, grana padano cream and black truffles. Another option is octopus with butter beans and peach-palm vinaigrette. On the 29th floor, the roof houses a piano bar.

Los Dos Cantina
The menu is entirely made up of recipes to share. There is only one taco option, the fish, with chipotle mayonnaise. The ji-tomato tostada combines momotaro tomatoes, tamarind sauce and dried egg yolk on a corn tostada. There is also an option of grilled squid served with mole (a traditional sauce made here with chestnuts), citrus salad and tortillas. The drinks menu features drinks such as the smoky Collins, with tequila, white whiskey, laphroaig, lemon and orange bitters.

Macondo’s Colombian Roots
Jair Rojas heads the kitchen of the Colombian restaurant with a name inspired by the world of the work of Gabriel García Márquez. On the menu are filling options for arepas (corn-based discs). The Cartagena dish consists of charcoal-roasted white fish fillet, coconut rice, salad and patacones (crunchy plantain).

Nagayama
The family restaurant, founded 37 years ago, has given birth to a few small ones: Nagayama Café, Naga, Bar do Naga and Nagayama Home delivery are also part of the group. Both units of the parent company operate with the same menu. Teppan yakis in eight versions, such as anchovy and squid, come with vegetables, miso shiru and gohan.

The restaurant focuses on a democratic menu in its three units. In a cool atmosphere, the menu offers dishes like fettuccine with lamb ragout with mushrooms and tuna and avocado tartare, served with fries or mixed greens.

Paul’s Shop
Serves New York style pizzas, by the slice or whole. Pizza chef Paul Cho recommends the spicy pizza, with pepperoni, jalapeño pickles and spicy honey. One of the most popular is stracciatella, almost the same as margherita, but with dollops of burrata.

Shoshana Delishop
For 30 years in Bom Retiro, the address founded by Shoshana Baruch has been offering Jewish recipes from Central and Eastern European countries. The house offers pê-effe with starter, salad, main course, dessert and drink. Wednesday is the Jewish feijoada day. The classic escalope, a breaded and fried chicken fillet, is accompanied by potato and dill salads, cabbage and greens.

Suri
Specializing in ceviches, it serves seven options of the dish starting at R$69. In addition to the classic, other versions include proteins like salmon and tuna and ingredients like bacon. To share, the altamar parrillada (R$229), for two, includes grilled octopus, squid and croaker, as well as a side of potatoes, a warm spinach salad and dry curds. The pisco sour appears in the traditional recipe (R$45) and in the one with a touch of red fruits and flowers (R$47).

Trattoria Tappo
The Italian restaurant from chef Benny Novak and Renato Ades, the same owners of Ici Bistrô, reopened its doors last year in the Paquita building. In the dining room, we serve classics like lasagna, which can have an alla Norma sauce, with eggplant, ricotta and tomato, or even bolognese. To accompany meat dishes, such as browned meatballs with tomato sauce.

Tonkayah
Chef Takaaki Yasumoto’s specialty is katsu, crispy breaded bread covered in panko flour, which can be found in several orders. At teishoku, katsudon (breaded pork loin fillet) comes with gohan, pork and vegetable broth, marinated vegetables and salad. The same toppings accompany the ebi furai, with four large breaded shrimp, and the wagyu mentikatsu, a breaded wagyu burger with salad and carrot sauce.

Waska
The restaurant offers typical dishes from several Latin American countries, such as Colombia and Mexico, but especially favors recipes from Peru, the owners’ country of origin. The anticuchos, beef heart skewers marinated in house sauce and accompanied by chimichurri potatoes, are all the rage. Lomo al jugo is an adaptation of the classic lomo saltado, but in a snack version, with filet mignon, red onion, tomato, soy sauce, coriander and bread. The dishes pair well with the pisco sour, one of the cocktail options.

Wooza
The house that looks like a Korean bar has changed address, but remains in Vila Mariana. Bibimbap is rice mixed with sautéed vegetables, a soft-boiled egg and a semi-sweet pepper sauce — it can be vegetarian, with pancetta or with meat. Topokki, rice noodles, are accompanied by fish pastes, vegetables and egg dipped in a spicy and sweet sauce.
