Among the memes there are suggestions such as John Malkovich to play Alexandre de Moraes, Ben Kingsley in the role of Luciano Hang, nicknamed on the networks as “the old man from Havana”, Olivia Coleman in the role of Dilma Rousseff and Ozzy Osbourne in the role of Damares Alves.
Characters such as the guru and astrologer Olavo de Carvalho, the truck driver under siege, “the patriot who cries in the rain”, the “truck patriot”, among others, have gained their own renowned Hollywood performers.

Memes aside, some of the official casting has already been announced. Jair Bolsonaro is played by American actor Jim Caviezel. Sergio Barreto plays Carlos Bolsonaro, Edward Finlay plays Eduardo and Marcus Almeida D’Ornelas plays Flávio. As reported Leafthe film’s screenplay is based on “a true story written by Mario Frias entitled ‘Capitão do Povo'”.
The film is directed by Cyrus Nowrasteh, an American filmmaker of Iranian origin. He has directed films such as “Infidel”, “The Young Messiah” and “The Stoning of Soraya M”. on his CV. The production is by Mexican Eduardo Verástegui, one of those responsible for “Som da Liberdade”, a success among conservatives.
