MADRID, December 27 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, announced this Saturday that the country will inaugurate, no later than the end of March or the beginning of April 2026, its first large-scale drone factory to increase the manpower of the Serbian armed forces, in particular the three main special forces.
“We are investing a lot and you would be surprised to know how many unmanned aerial vehicles we currently have in our arsenals, including the so-called ‘kamikaze drones’ and some others,” he said at the inauguration ceremony of the future headquarters of the General Staff in Belgrade’s Banjica district.
Thus, “at the latest at the end of March or the beginning of April, I expect the opening of the first large drone factory in our country, and I am proud to note that these will be very sophisticated drones,” said the Serbian president.
Vucic, while defending the importance of “protecting peace”, also said that the Serbian state “must remain vigilant and strong” in a world where “changes are happening at dizzying speed”, especially for a country that is negotiating membership in the European Union while retaining a huge affinity with Russia.
“We will preserve peace, and peace is preserved through our strength. We can only preserve peace if our army and defense system are even stronger and more powerful. Therefore, we will continue to fully arm ourselves and build a national military industry,” he said in his ceremonial speech posted on his Facebook page.
