The defender left the Mexican club after their elimination in the national championship. For Rayados, Ramos played 34 matches and scored eight goals
Three days after announcing his departure from Monterrey, defender Sérgio Ramos published a letter on his social networks bidding farewell to the Mexican club. The 39-year-old Spaniard arrived at Rayados in February this year and was the main name of the team during the Club World Cup in the middle of the year.
In his statement, the defender appreciated the opportunity to know a new country and also a new city. Ramos praised the fact of wearing the Monterrey captain’s armband as well as the times spent with the Mexican club.

Sérgio Ramos announced his departure from the Rayados after their elimination in the semi-finals of the Mexican Championship last Saturday (06). Despite the lack of titles, the Spaniard’s individual numbers in Monterrey are impressive. The defender played 34 matches and showed his goalscoring talent by scoring eight goals. This high offensive average, characteristic of his career, helped the team in crucial moments.
Now the expectation remains whether the player will continue playing or leave the field. Last year, before agreeing with Monterrey, the defender was offered to four Brazilian clubs, who did not continue negotiations for financial reasons.

“Saying goodbye is never easy. This ends a stage that began full of dreams in February and which allowed me to discover a country, a city, football and which leaves me with many new experiences and above all many friends.
I will always be proud to have worn the captain’s armband of the Rayados, to have led the team in the first Club World Cup in its new format, to have fought in the Final, the Opening, the League Cup, the Concacaf Champions Cup… and to have courageously defended the Steel Giant alongside them in every match we played at home.
I left everything on and off the field to be able to give the best of myself. 34 matches, more than 3,000 minutes, 8 goals and so many emotions that it is impossible to describe in numbers.
To the club, to my dear colleagues, to the technical staff, to the employees, to everyone, thank you. And above all thank you to you, fans, who showed me your warmth and affection from the first moment I set foot in the city. I will always remember this stage of my career with nostalgia and I will always proudly say “Go Monterrey!”
