The Government of Goiás has announced the project to requalify and modernize the Serra Dourada complex, one of the most emblematic spaces in the state.
The initiative provides for a private investment of more than 300 million reais and will be carried out by the Construcap group, responsible for managing the complex for the next 35 years. Work is expected to begin in May 2026.
The project transforms Serra Dourada into a hub of daily use, integrating sport, culture, leisure and tourism. The proposal expands the use of space throughout the year, with a structure prepared to host games, shows, cultural events, sports activities and urban coexistence actions.
The entire Serra Dourada complex – which includes the Serra Dourada Stadium, the Ginásio Goiânia Arena and the Parque da Criança – remains a public asset of the state of Goiás, with private administration. The model guarantees continuous investments, without the use of public resources, guaranteeing efficiency in the management and maintenance of assets.

The requalification will have an impact on the economy of Goiás
During the construction period, until 2028, 2,500 direct and indirect jobs are expected to be created. Once the renovation is complete, the complex is expected to generate approximately 3,000 permanent jobs. An annual turnover of around 1 billion reais is expected in the state’s economy starting in 2030.
With the modernization, it is planned to host more than 150 events per year, with an estimated audience of 3 million annual visitors, thus consolidating the space as a reference for major sporting, cultural and entertainment events in the Center-North of the country.
The Serra Dourada stadium will be revitalized, preserving the original architecture and adopting modern solutions.
The plan involves lowering the pitch and creating new cabins, including ground-level spaces, air-conditioned suites and mid-level lounges. The catering area will be redesigned, with new bars and restaurants. Operational improvements are also planned, such as expanding the pitch access tunnel for trailers, replacing radio booths, implementing facial recognition technologies and readjusting capacity for 44,000 people at matches and up to 60,000 people at shows.
The Goiânia Arena Gym will receive an LED facade, acoustic restructuring, new dressing rooms and a structure suitable for major shows.
The outdoor space of the complex will be transformed into a multi-sport urban park, open to the public, with a cycle path, an athletics track, multi-sport fields and a linear park.
The project also includes the planting of around 800 trees native to the Cerrado and the establishment of modern technological infrastructure, with fiber optics, 5G coverage and an operational control center.
The requalification will be carried out in planned stages to ensure business continuity. Even with the estimated duration of 24 months of work at the Serra Dourada Stadium, the calendar of events will remain active, with the use of the parking lots and the gymnasium, which will undergo faster interventions, without long interruptions.
