More than 28 thousand properties remain without electricity in the metropolitan region of São Paulo this Tuesday morning (16/12), the seventh day after the wind caused by the extratropical cyclone formed in the south of the country.
The capital São Paulo is the most affected city, with 23,873 homes without electricity.

This Monday (15th), the energy supply fluctuated. In the morning, 26,000 properties remained without power; In the afternoon, the number increased further and reached 50,000 customers, who remained in the dark.
Although the Enel concessionaire announced that it would restore electricity supply by the end of last Sunday (14), the outage persists. The court ordered the dealership to immediately normalize the situation, under penalty of a fine of R$200,000 per hour in the event of non-compliance.
Power outage in São Paulo
- Last Wednesday (10), the power outage affected more than 2 million properties in the capital of São Paulo and the metropolitan region.
- More than 800,000 properties remained without power on Friday (12/12).
- On Saturday (13), more than 470,000 people were registered. On Sunday (14), around 160,000 homes were still without electricity.
- Other impacts of winds include lack of water, falling trees and flight cancellations.
- Some neighborhoods were also left without water. According to Sabesp, the lack of electricity is preventing homes from being supplied.
What does Enel say?
Enel said the number of customers without power is dynamic and can vary throughout the day. “While teams are restoring supply at certain points, new incidents may be recorded in other sections of the network, whether due to weather factors, objects thrown onto the network (kite, branches, among others), the activation of automatic protections or technical maneuvers necessary to carry out repairs. Consequently, the total number of impacted customers fluctuates constantly,” the concessionaire indicated, in a note.
