A traffic accident that occurred on the afternoon of this Monday caused serious difficulties while driving on Route 2, in the section that connects the metropolitan area with the city of Mar del Plata. The incident occurred at kilometer 82.5 where two vehicles were involved in a collision that disrupted the normal flow of traffic.
The incident occurred when one of the cars overtook another car that was traveling in the right lane and was preparing to return. The impact immobilized both vehicles on different sections of the highway, resulting in passage having to be partially halted and drivers temporarily rerouted to the side of the road.
Despite the severity of the accident, no injuries were reported. A 77-year-old woman was traveling in one of the vehicles, while a 46-year-old man was in the other with his two youngest children, aged 15 and 11. All were treated at the scene and were in good health.
A health unit from the road concessionaire was present to examine those involved and rule out the need for medical transfers. In parallel, traffic safety personnel worked on traffic control and preventive signage to avoid new inconveniences.
One of the cars was eventually moved towards the middle section of the track while the remaining car was stopped in one of the lanes. This situation reduced the road’s capacity until a crane managed to remove the vehicles and restore normal traffic.
