I am NOT unconscious. I’m writing this article knowing that it will be out of date in the next few hours. I know in fact that new announcements will arrive soon, but these will only reinforce the idea that I am about to develop, of … So I don’t care about this dilapidation. It turns out that being historically references in art and music thanks to legendary artists, in Seville we have always complained about not having a high level cultural offer. We always looked with envy – not at all healthy – at Madrid and Barcelona, wondering why international singers passed through our country when they announced their world tours, because we also wanted to enjoy them. Ours, of course, but no one is bitter about candy, and we wanted to see these pop and rock stars around here. And now that it’s finally becoming a mainstream thing, it seems boring.
It is true that a few years ago, we had already seen events by U2, AC/DC, Bruce Springsteen, Red Hot Chili Peppers or Guns N’ Roses, among others, in the city’s football stadiums. Isolated concerts which, at least, made us think that the dynamic was changing little by little and that Seville could become a reference for the biggest names on the music scene. This happened over time until Icónica came to approve it with a concept that we should be more than proud of. Because, even if the macro-concerts will continue to take place, notably at the Estadio de la Cartuja, having a program like the one that this ‘made in’ Seville festival will offer this summer with the help of Javier Esteban and Green Cow Music is something to brag about. For its duration, for its musical variety, for the number of genres that exist and above all for the level of the artists who will attend.
Bringing together international artists as powerful as Robbie Williams, Lenny Kravitz, Marilyn Manson, Maroon 5, Jamiroquai or Sting under the same brand is not up to everyone’s expectations. Mixing them, in addition, with historical references like Raphaël and Isabel Pantoja, new references for young people like Aitana, Lola Índigo or Dani Fernández, and established references like Viva Sweden, Pablo Alborán and Hombres G, for example, is of incalculable value. No one who visits Seville or comes directly from here can say that they don’t have options to choose from according to their respective musical tastes. And there are still major announcements to come. Can you tell me about a best festival in Spain right now? In case you still doubt it, add that it’s in the Plaza de España…
