
Singer Mauri Lima, brother of the country duo Chitãozinho and Xororó, died in an accident on the Régis Bittencourt highway (BR-116), in Miracatu (SP), this Sunday. A member of the artist’s team also died. His brother Maurício, with whom he forms a duo and who is also the brother of Chitãozinho and Xororó, was in the vehicle and survived the collision.
The collision involved a truck, a van and the two men’s van, according to information from the g1 news portal. A total of six people were injured. Mauri was married to presenter Andrea Fabyanna and leaves behind a 20-year-old daughter.
The singer gave a show in Curitiba, Paraná, last Saturday, where he was accompanied by his brothers. The accident occurred while he was returning home, around 2 p.m. The track was only fully reopened around 6:40 p.m. and the Federal Highway Police (PRF) said the cause of the accident “is still under investigation.”
In a note posted on social media, Chitãozinho and Xororó announced their deaths “with deep sadness and regret.” According to them, “the fact is very recent and the information is still being investigated and consolidated.”
“We inform you that Maurício is doing well physically and is being cared for. The family thanks everyone for their affection and understanding in reserving themselves in this moment of deep pain,” says another part of the note.
