
Six people escaped from the Sumaré public prison, in the Campinas Metropolitan Region (SP), this Sunday (21). Four inmates were recaptured on the sidewalk of the penitentiary unit, but two are still at large, according to the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP).
The escape took place after a custody hearing. According to the incident report, a municipal guard had left the cell open, which allowed him to escape, the ministry said.
The forensic investigation was requested and the 9th Auxiliary Division of Internal Affairs of the Civil Police, based in Piracicaba, was informed of the facts.
The incident was recorded as an escape of a person arrested or subject to security measures at the Americana Sectional Police Station. A detailed mandate has been prepared and will be sent to the Special Criminal Court (Jecrim).
