An accident involving six vehicles left one dead, in the early hours of Thursday 11, on Rodovia Presidente Dutra, near Taubaté, in the interior of São Paulo. According to firefighters, 43 people were lightly or moderately injured.
Ao Terra, the Federal Highway Police (PRF) reported that the case occurred around 3 a.m., at km 107 of the BR-116, with four trucks, a bus and a car. The occupants of the vehicles were rescued by the dealership’s emergency teams, with the support of firefighters, PRF and Samu.
The bus driver succumbed to his injuries and died. The police also reported that five victims, slightly injured, had been transported to the Taubaté regional hospital. 38 others were slightly injured and did not need to be transferred to a health facility.
According to information from CCR SPVias, the concessionaire responsible for the section, lanes 1, 2 and 3 of the motorway were closed to deal with the incident. At present, lanes 1 and 2 have already been released and there is currently 2 km of congestion on the road. It is not yet known what caused the collision.
