Rayssa Leal won her fourth SLS (Street League Skateboarding) championship this Sunday (7), the main skateboard competition circuit in the world this year. In front of almost 10,000 spectators at the Ibirapuera gymnasium, in São Paulo, he performed precise maneuvers and overcame strong competition.
The 17-year-old Brazilian had as opponents in the SLS Super Crown (the final stage which is worth the season title) three Japanese Olympic medalists: Coco Yoshizawa, Liz Akama and Funa Nakayama. She totaled 32.6 points, with a good advantage over second place Nakayama, who had 26.4, and third place Australian Chloe Covell, who had 25.3.
“I have no words to describe my feeling. It’s supernatural. I’m very happy,” said the champion, who played the final with knee protection. “In training, I hit my head, I turned my knee a little. I was worried, but I managed to wake up a little better, despite the stiffness in my neck. We did a good job.”
According to Raíssa, the SLS title, his fourth in a row, was “100% this year’s goal.” As the World Cup organized by World Skating, recognized as the international confederation of the sport, was not contested, the priority was the SLS, won in front of Brazilian fans.
The young athlete became emotional while celebrating this achievement, even though he was already used to being on the podium. She has two Olympic medals, the first of which was a silver obtained at the age of 13, at the Tokyo Games, organized in 2021. In 2024, in Paris, she won bronze. Now set your sights on Los Angeles-2028.
