Summer 1993
turning
“Summer 1993” For me, this was a turning point because its critical and international success – including winning Best First Feature Film in Berlin – demonstrated to the industry that a female, authoritative gaze could maintain both prestige and commercial impact. The recognition of Carla Simon This strengthened the confidence of producers and financiers to support new women’s voices, facilitating filmmakers such as Pilar Palomero, Clara Roquet, Alauda Ruiz de Azúa or Elena López Riera.

Director
Paul Thomas Anderson
A deep humanist sensitivity
He has built an almost homogeneous filmography where he combines enormous formal ambition with a deep humanist sensitivity. His ability to reinvent himself – from choral drama (“Magnolia”, “The Master”) to characters from an era, making them timeless (“Puit d’ambition”, “Le fil invisible”), through generational portraits (“Pizza aux licorices”) – makes him an author with an extraordinary expressive palette, without ever losing his personal voice.
