She and her accomplice Yong, with whom she was romantically involved, even tried to extract an additional 70 million won from the star, who called the police. After the accusation, both men were arrested. The woman was sentenced to four years in prison by the Seoul Central District Court. The man was sentenced to two years in prison for attempted blackmail.
“She did not limit herself to simple threats or demands for money; she went further, taking measures such as informing the press and advertising agencies, or exploiting Son’s status as a public figure,” Judge Im Jeong-bin said, according to the Yonhap news agency.
The magistrate also said he had taken “extreme measures” because the case could damage the player’s reputation. According to him, Son “suffered considerable psychological problems following the publication of the affair”.
