Spanish sailing won two silver medals in the first Inclusive Sailing World Championship held in Oman, in the visually impaired category, with Dani Anglada, Carmen López, Mónica Azón and Jordi Sánchez and the RS Venture Connect double class, signed by … Pau Toni Homar and Ramón Gutiérrez.
Dani Anglada recognized the magnitude of what has been accomplished: “Three weeks ago I thought it was crazy. Today we show that it is possible. “We are the first Spanish team to officially participate in an inclusive World Cup… and we swept it.” Azón, for his part, underlines the human dimension of the challenge: “After years of competition, the important thing is to give opportunities. “Sailing must be a completely inclusive sport. »
The other results of the Spanish delegation were an eighth position for Violeta del Reino (individual Hansa 303) and a ninth for Jana Mestre (individual Hansa 303).
In total, the championship brought together 55 athletes from 37 countries, being the first global competition to integrate physical, intellectual and visual disability categories.
