For just two days, the federal government is opening in Michoacán a special registry for two of its main social programs: the Pension for the Welfare of Women and the Pension for the Welfare of the Elderly. The call is aimed at those who are not yet part of these registers.
The simultaneous opening of the two incorporation processes comes in the context of the implementation of the “Plan for Peace and Justice” in the entity, a strategy with which the government of Claudia Sheinbaum seeks to confront a state stuck for years in a spiral of clashes between criminal groups, extortion from the productive sector and forced displacements, recently aggravated by the assassination of Uruapan Mayor Carlos Manzo.
In early November, the administration announced an investment of P37.45 billion in welfare programs. “It is a global strategy that is based on a deep conviction: security is supported by a strategy, actions, justice, guaranteeing the rights of the people of Michoacán and the Mexican people to education, health, access to housing, to decent employment, that is to say, to development with justice and well-being, declared the president.
Registration dates
Registrations will only be open for two consecutive days: December 16 and 17, in modules installed in different municipalities of Michoacán.
This extraordinary incorporation includes the Elderly Welfare Pension, intended for people aged 65 or over, as well as the Women’s Welfare Pension, intended for women between 60 and 64 who do not yet benefit from a contributory pension.
Requirements
Interested persons must present the basic documentation in original and copy.
- Legible birth certificate;
- CURP (updated);
- proof of address (dated less than six months);
- Valid official ID.
How does the process work?
The process is free and in person. In the modules, staff from the Social Protection Secretariat review the documentation and register in the system. Once the request is accepted, those constituted will receive their fortnightly financial support, via the Banco del Bienestar card.
