STF sends PF to the 13th Court in Curitiba in search of hidden data

By order of Minister of the Supreme Federal Court (STF) Dias Toffoli, the Federal Police (PF) carried out, on Wednesday (3/12), a search and seizure operation at the 13th Federal Court of Curitiba, the unit that focused the operations of Operation Lava Jato.

The decision responds to repeated requests from the STF to send documents related to the investigations before Lava Jato by the Federal Court of Paraná.

Among the requested data is information about the case of businessman Tony Garcia, who worked as an informant in the investigations conducted by the court headed at the time by former judge Sergio Moro.

At that time, Garcia cooperated with the investigations and, at the request of the Federal Court, registered the authorities with jurisdiction by function, including a member of the State Court of Auditors.

The operation aims to ensure that the Special Court finally has access to the collection of documents and records that, according to the Court, should have been sent months ago for analysis.

Toffoli’s decision is based on evidence of repeated non-compliance with court orders, which prevents the progress of open investigations in the Supreme Court into possible irregularities in the conduct of pre-Lava Jato cases.

The Federal Police has not yet provided details about the materials seized in the operation. The Federal Supreme Court has not yet officially commented.
