The father of the head of the Aeronavegantes union, Juan Pablo Brey, is one of the men closest to businessman, journalist and evangelist leader Dante Gebel, perhaps from his “little table”. For this reason, the union member and Peronist leader was one of those who early on allowed himself to be seduced by domestic politics and even tried out a national candidacy as a new outsider.
But it’s not just his father who belongs to the inner core of the driver and actor: Daniel Darling, the CEO of Gebel’s company, is Brey’s own godfather.
With this family connection he began to imagine a political future. And it started to add up. One of the first to launch an incipient assembly is lawmaker Eugenio Casielles, a Peronist shipowner and one of the founders of La Libertad Avanza, who was expelled after distancing himself from Karina Milei.
Authoritarians don’t like that
The practice of professional and critical journalism is a mainstay of democracy. That is why it bothers those who believe that they are the owners of the truth.
However, since Mario Pergolini – partner and one of the supporters of a hypothetical candidacy – consulted him about a candidacy in his evening program and Gebel did not rule it out, a public – and also private – conversation suddenly began about the chance that his figure could be a new face for national politics. Even a new outsider like Javier Milei himself eventually knew how to find his way around.
In this context, a call was launched in these hours for the first meeting of those who positively assess the Gebel 2027 project. The date will be December 30th and could in principle take place in an affiliated union or in a central hotel.
Leaders will gather there to provide political support and branding to a future national force.
In addition to Brey and Casielles, the head of the Union of Textile Industries and Related Workers (Setia), José Minaberrigaray, will also join; now-former Buenos Aires Liberal MP Yamil Santoro; and several former followers of La Libertad Avanza – some well-known influencers and communicators – who also rate the issue positively.
According to reliable sources to PERFIL in the CGT, where Brey holds the sports secretariat, they have been following the moves that Gebel could make. What’s more, both the president of Uocra, Gerardo Martínez, and the triumvir Cristian Jerónimo (Glass Workers’ Union) expressed interest in knowing what happens to the businessman and evangelist.
There will also be present sports leaders such as Pedro Villarreal, president of the Union of Neighborhood Clubs, and former Boca and Banfield player Walter Ervitti, who, along with his brother-in-law, work with Gebel’s social work in the country.
In addition, although their names are being kept under wraps, there are two national MPs and several provincial MPs who were in the LLA and distanced themselves, as well as a group of Peronist councilors who said they would attend.
For his part, Ramiro Marra refused to participate in the room despite being offered to do so on several occasions. Although he confides in front of his confidants that the next Argentine president will once again be an outsider and not a leader of Argentina’s “traditional politics”. He experienced it personally with Milei between 2020 and 2023. Marra continues to enjoy enormous influence on social networks and although he has never decided to tell what happened with his departure from LLA, he plans to reveal it sooner or later.
The map is rounded off by beginning informal dialogues with mayors and governors who have not yet found a beacon for 2027.
“We’re organizing everything so that if Dante Gebel wants to participate, he can do so,” point guard Casielles said, openly pale, on “It’scoming” on AZZ-Streaming this week.
On a personal level, Gebel is a nomad: He makes his living traveling to California, where he runs the River Arena, which holds two services every Sunday in Anaheim. That’s why he had to travel back and forth to Los Angeles for months for the tour, which ended two weeks ago at the Gran Rex Theater in Presidante – where he plays the very head of state. He returns in February to continue his show in Latin America. Gebel criticizes Milei towards his confidants because of his manners, but also because of what he believes is his lack of social perspective. In his public and private discourse he is a proclaimer of the gospel for the end of the divide. And one of its axes lies in the world of work. It is therefore no coincidence that there are already trade unions that look at this with joy.
Currently, Pergolini is one of his most loyal defenders. In business circles he was heard saying that “Dante will be president” if he decides to play politics. Gebel continues to reiterate that he is not ruling it out.
