At 84 years old, State Deputy Eduardo Suplicy (PT-SP) will participate in the 100th edition of the São Silvestre International Race, scheduled for December 31 in São Paulo.
This will be the third time that the parliamentarian faces the 15 km course of the most traditional race in the country. He ran for the first time in 1988 and repeated the experience in 2001.
Suplicy was among the authorities and personalities honored by the São Paulo City Hall during a solemn session that celebrated the centenary of the race, during which São Silvestre received the Silver Medal, one of the highest honors of the São Paulo Legislature. The delivery was led by Councilor Renata Falzoni (PSB) on the 12th of this month.
On social networks, the MP declared himself “very happy to end the year in good health” and said he was ready to line up again at the start of the race, which will start and finish on Avenida Paulista. The historic edition of São Silvestre, created by journalist Cásper Líbero, is sold out and is expected to bring together around 55,000 runners, an increase of 47% compared to 2025.
Having recently dealt with lymphatic cancer, Parkinson’s disease, Covid-19 and pneumonia, Suplicy said in another post that he attributes his current disposition to treatment with Cannabis medicinal.
