David GS, the doctor arrested this Friday in Alicante for alleged sexual assault during a cosmetic procedure on a sedated patient, has been practicing for more than a decade as an independent professional in several private hospitals in the Murcia region and other communities, according to the surgeon himself in his Linkedin profile. The doctor is defined in this network as a plastic, aesthetic and reconstructive surgeon approved by the Autonomous University of Barcelona and having completed his residency at the University of Santiago de Compostela between May 2009 and the same month of 2014.
On the same platform, he claims to have been head of the plastic, aesthetic and reconstructive surgery department, in Quironsalud Murcia (2016-2020), as well as in Torrevieja (2016-2020) and Toledo (2019-2020), a point that this hospital denied: “He is an independent professional”, they assured this newspaper.
The arrest took place after two nurses from the IMED Virgen de la Fuensanta Hospital, in Murcia, filed a complaint with the hospital management, then with the National Police, accompanied by a video recorded by themselves, the content of which allegedly demonstrates the sexual assault of a sedated patient during a cosmetic operation.
With these images in hand, the president of the investigating court for gender violence in Molina de Segura decreed pre-trial detention last Friday. The events reported took place on December 4 in the aforementioned hospital, which dissociated itself from what happened through a statement in which it clarified that the doctor is not part of its staff and that that day he had rented an operating room to carry out the procedure. From the IMED Virgen de la Fuensanta they also reported that they were studying by presenting themselves in the procedure as a victim.
In addition to this clinic, the man currently detained had also operated in the Region of Murcia Quironsalud and HLA La Vega, where, according to Linkedin, he has been carrying out interventions since 2018. From this hospital center they refused to make statements “because the case is in the hands of justice, with ongoing proceedings”. According to David’s networks. GS, in addition to the Murcia region, the surgeon had carried out cosmetic operations in other private centers in the Valencian Community or Toledo.
David GS also claims on the Linkedin network to be part of SECPRE (Spanish Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery); AECEP (Spanish Society of Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery); the Aesthetic Society (American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery); ISAPS (International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery) and EAFPS (European Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery).
Violation of the presumption of innocence
“Neither the family nor the lawyers will make new statements at the moment,” assured this newspaper from the office of Mariano Bo and Pablo Martínez Abogados, who defends the detainee and who has reported in recent days that the doctor’s presumption of innocence had been violated.
The main evidence in the case is the video recorded by a nurse and an assistant from the IMED Virgen de la Fuensanta team with a cell phone when they saw suspicious movements from the doctor towards the patient, who was already under sedation, and which they identified as a possible sexual assault.
The detainee, according to the regional newspaper La Opinión, was intercepted in Alicante, where he has his clinic. And the woman on whom he intervened on December 4 would have filed a complaint against him when she was informed of the events, even if, being under sedation at the time of the alleged attack, she could not have made a statement on the subject.
For its part, the Ministry of Health offered the court its collaboration to “provide the necessary documentation and carry out the required actions” in the case.
