More than a ton of marijuana was seized by the Military Highway Police in the early hours of Tuesday (9), after a driver disobeyed the order to stop on the Washington Luís highway, in Mirassol, interior of São Paulo.
The action took place during a routine Ostensif Road Tactical (TOR) patrol. Police signaled the driver to stop, but he accelerated, abandoned the vehicle a few meters away and fled on foot through a wooded area. Despite on-site searches, the suspect was not located.

Inside the car, officers found approximately 1,300 bricks of marijuana, totaling approximately 1.2 tons of the drug. The drugs were distributed in the trunk and back seat, occupying almost the entire vehicle.
The seizure was presented to the Mirassol police station and registered as drug trafficking. Police continue to investigate the origin and destination of the shipment.
