The Plenary Assembly of the Talavera de la Reina Town Hall definitively approved this Friday the modification of tax ordinances and ordinances regulating municipal taxes and public prices for the year 2026. The proposal, which will reduce the tax burden … of Talaveranos, came out on top by a majority, with the councilors of the Municipal Socialist Group voting against.
The vice-spokesperson of the government team, Gelen Delgado, assured that the new ordinances do not provide for an increase in taxes, but rather an “extension of tax credits”. As he pointed out, the current economic context “requires prudence” and these measures represent “a responsible way of managing local accounts and maintaining public services without increasing the tax burden on the residents of Talavera.”
Delgado explained that the modifications affect more than thirty aspects related to taxes and municipal rates, and include changes in different tax figures. Among them, the increase in IBI bonuses and reductionsto vehicle tax or IAE, as well as adjustments to various municipal taxes.
In the area of pricing, The vice-spokesperson indicated that cost reductions will be encouraged in sports mattersparticularly in annual subscriptions, and measures are envisaged aimed at promoting the economy of large families. These actions are part, as he recalled, of the Three-Year Tax Plan “More for less: thinking of you”, which was presented with the objective of “reducing the tax pressure of Talaveranos and in no case not increasing it despite the skyrocketing CPI”.
The municipal official defended that the government team will implement measures that “will alleviate the fiscal pressure of the socialist government”, through new bonuses and reductions, broadening the application hypotheses and laying the foundations for a gradual reduction over the next three years.
In this context, he accused what he called “The socialist taxes of Pedro Sánchez and Emiliano García-Page”in reference to the cost of water, which, as indicated, will represent an additional million euros for Talaverians “to evacuate it from the city to another part of the region”.
On the other hand, Delgado thanked Fedeto for his “invaluable contribution” during the period of allegations regarding the proposed modification of the tax orders.highlighting collaboration with the city’s business community.
Compared to the regulatory ordinance of the blue zone, the vice-spokesperson positively valued the incorporation of the financial formula of the leasing, largely associated with rentalas terms of purchase of vehicles that can benefit from the regulated parking system by means of annual or half-yearly subscriptions. This measure expands the already existing model for residents of restricted areas.
Likewise, he recalled that after the municipalization of the ORA, the government team announced the extension of these benefits not only to residents and individuals, but also to tradersself-employed workers and service companies with home delivery. In this sense, he defended that the ORA “should not be a tax collection mechanism, but rather a useful tool to regulate the lack of parking in areas with higher population density.”
Delgado insisted that these measures represent a clear commitment to local tradeconsidered essential to maintaining economic and residential activity in certain areas of the city. He reiterated that the motto of the government team is “lower taxes and in no case increase them”, with the aim that many residents see their annual bill reduced and can keep their businesses open or continue to carry out their work.
Regarding the allegations presented by the PSOE, The deputy spokesperson said these were “non-concrete” proposals.such as the reduction of the IBI on the tax rate without estimating the margins within the limits of what is authorized by the local finance law. According to him, the proposed bonuses lack definition and specificity, since “bonuses and reductions are not created freely but only those fixed by law”.
Delgado described the socialist proposals as “a populist absurdity” and reiterated that, according to him, they are responding to a strategy of “smut politics” in tax matters, accusing the PSOE of proposing tax cuts “without rhyme or reason, as if it were the week of Black Friday”.
The PP accuses PP and Vox of refusing to lower the garbage price
For its part, the Municipal Socialist Group of Talavera de la Reina regretted the rejection of the local government of PP and Vox to its proposal to reduce the reception of waste, despite the fact that the town is currently the largest city in Castile-La Mancha.where do you pay the most for this service?. The socialists consider that the municipal executive’s refusal demonstrates a “lack of desire to alleviate” the economic burden borne by residents.
The spokesperson for the Socialist Group, Luis Enrique Hidalgo, criticized the fact that “once again PP and Vox prefer to continue put your hands in the pockets of Talaveranos instead of working and managing“. In this sense, he argued that, if the municipality led by José Julián Gregorio assumed the necessary improvements to the waste collection service, “its cost could be reduced and this would translate into a decrease in a bill that has increased by almost one hundred percent in just one year.”
Hidalgo compared the receipt that an average family pays in Talavera, estimated at 123 euros per year, with that of other towns in the region, where, as we have pointed out, it is significantly lower. He indicated that in Guadalajara the amount is 118 euros, in Albacete 93.25 euros, in Ciudad Real 88.61 euros and in Cuenca 79.69 euros. He also cited the case of Toledo, where an average family with a house with a cadastral value between 65,000 and 146,000 euros and three inhabitants pays 76.89 euros, while in Puertollano the bill reaches 55.77 euros per year.
The motion presented by the socialist group proposed various measures aimed at reducing the cost of the service through better management. These included initiatives such as setting up the brown container for the collection of organic waste, which would make it possible to obtain additional income, as well as the sensorization of containers and the optimization of the routes of collection trucks.
