Tarcisio’s allies resist surrender after Flavio’s choice

Behind the scenes, Tarcisio Freitas’s (Republicans) allies promise not to give in after the announcement of the selection of Flavio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) as his father’s candidate for the Planalto Palace in 2026.

Although Flavio informed Tarcisio of the decision personally during a conversation this week, as reported in the column, those around the São Paulo governor greeted the news with skepticism.

Those around Tarcisio believe that after the announcement, Flavio will become more of a target for attacks. There is also a bet that the reaction of the market and the judiciary, which favor the conservative, may change the scenario.

Despite resistance to capitulation, allies advised Tarcisio to publicly endorse Bolsonaro’s choice and keep statements about a presidential run under the utmost secrecy.
