The cordial atmosphere adopted by the governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), with President Lula (PT) and Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Supreme Federal Court (STF), during the inauguration of the SBT News channel, Friday evening (12), became ammunition for a part of Bolsonarism that prefers to see Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL), from Rio de Janeiro, as presidential candidate in 2026.

Two moments, in particular, were explored on the networks to criticize Tarcísio, the preferred name of the group of right-wing parties and moderate anti-PT sectors. However, the repercussion has occurred among the anonymous, and not among the main leaders of the movement, who prefer not to get involved in the controversy.
During Moraes’ speech, Tarcísio appeared on the channel’s broadcast, shyly applauding a speech on the withdrawal of the Magnitksy law by the US government of Donald Trump. The sanction against the Brazilian authorities was formulated by the federal deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL) as a way of trying to reverse the actions of the Court, in particular of the minister rapporteur of the coup process which led to the conviction of Jair Bolsonaro to 27 years and 3 months in prison.
— The truth won today. The President remembers that in July, when the Supreme Court met to discuss these sanctions against the Brazilian justice system, I asked him to do nothing, to take no action against this. Because I believed, as I continued to believe, and today it is very clear, that as soon as this reached the North American authorities, the truth would prevail, — Moraes said.
The other extract explored on the networks shows the conversation that Lula had with Tarcísio upon his arrival at the event. After he and the capital’s mayor, Ricardo Nunes (MDB), spoke briefly with the president about the energy shortage crisis in the state, the PT member hugged the governor and told him that he had lost weight. “What time do you get up to do gymnastics,” Lula asked, in a conversation captured by GLOBO. The two laughed and the governor said this around 6am.

One of those who used this episode to attack the governor was blogger Allan dos Santos, one of the targets of the “fake news” investigation, currently on the run from the country. “Afterwards, it’s me who’s involved,” he wrote on This is the same blogger who clashed this Friday with federal deputy Nikolas Ferreira (PL-MG) over the withdrawal of Magnitsky against Moraes.
There was also, in Lula’s sympathizing networks, a focus on the “punches” between him and Tarcísio during the inauguration of SBT News. The president cited the name of his political opponent when saying that market forecasts for the Brazilian economy have not come true this year. Lulist profiles also criticized Bolsonarism for its aversion to cordiality between politicians. They said, for example, that this is how Brazil historically did politics before the rise of its greatest idol, Jair Bolsonaro.
