Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka was elected WTA Player of the Year for the second consecutive season, in a vote published on Monday (15/12), after finishing 2025 as world number 1 and with the main numbers on the women’s tennis circuit.
The performance during the year guaranteed the athlete almost 80% of the votes of the specialized media.

Sabalenka had a year marked by consistency and protagonism. She made nine finals during the season, more than any other tennis player, and won four titles, finishing the calendar as the athlete with the most victories, 63 in total.
In addition to her on-court performances, the ranking leader set a new WTA single-season earnings record, with more than $15 million in earnings for the entire year.

With this result, Sabalenka became only the third player in the last 15 years to win the WTA’s top singles prize on more than one occasion. She also closes the second consecutive year at the top of the world rankings and reaches the 12th position in the historical ranking of weeks at number 1.
Other WTA Awards categories have also been announced. Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were voted best pair of the season after their titles at the Australian Open and vice-champions at the US Open.
Amanda Anisimova won the Most Improved Player award in 2025, while Belinda Bencic won the Comeback of the Year trophy after returning to the tour and winning two titles. Canadian Victoria Mboko, 19, was chosen as the season’s newcomer.
