
Australian authorities announced this Wednesday that the young 24 year old terrorist who attacked a Sydney beach with his now deceased father last Sunday, has been charged with 59 crimes, including 15 murders.
The man is accused of having committed a “terrorist act”. 15 counts of murder and 40 of wounding or “serious bodily harm to a person with intent to murder,” as New South Wales Police put it in a statement.
Additionally, he is accused of “discharging a firearm with intent to cause serious bodily injury,” place explosives in a building or nearby with the intent to cause harm, and the public display of symbols of prohibited terrorist organizations”, following the seizure of Islamic State flags from a vehicle registered in their name.
Officers from the above-mentioned police anti-terrorist team went to the hospital where the attacker is admittedafter waking up from a coma the day before. According to the agency, this man from Bonnyrigg, a suburb of Sydney, will appear online this Wednesday.
“Police will allege in court that the man engaged in behavior which caused death, serious injury and life in danger to promote a religious cause and instill fear in the community,” he added in the memo.
In addition to the 15 deaths, 20 other people remain hospitalized after a father and son carried out a mass shooting last Sunday on Sydney’s Bondi Beach while celebrating the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah.
