‘Textor came with the bag,’ says Luiz Henrique on Botafogo choice

In 2024, Luiz Henrique had on the table the interest of Fluminense, the club that revealed him, and of Flamengo, the club considered the most powerful in Brazil. But Pantera Negra opted for Botafogo, where they became champions of the Copa Libertadores and Brasileirão last year. This Saturday (20), in an interview with the show “Charla Podcast”, the beast explained why, after all, he stopped at Mais Tradicional and not at his rivals in Rio.

“Fernando Diniz (Fluminense coach at the time) said I was the only player he wanted. There was also Flamengo, who came strong, but he wanted to loan me. Betis, however, wanted to sell. Then dad John Textor came strong. He came with the bag. There was no way. But it was also written that I had to come to Botafogo. When God wants something, nothing stops him,” the Russian striker said of Zenit.

Majority partner of SAF do Botafogo, Textor therefore played a decisive role in the victory over the competition for the title of king of America. In fact, Luiz Henrique only has good things to remember about him.

“Lots of family and good people. He asks if our family is okay, if we need anything. He’s a sociable guy, humble, calm, who likes criticism, who likes to drink a Brahma. When he drinks a Brahma, he wants to dance. But he’s a very serious guy and he likes work.”

Finally, Luiz Henrique analyzed his successful stay of almost a year at Mais Tradicional.

“At the beginning I got injured. And the Botafogo fans really needed our presence on the pitch. The club deserved to win something. So it was a year there that was exceptional, with the players and the fans united. There was no better scenario than that,” added the black and white idol.
