Textor targets coach with offensive mentality and Anselmi gains strength

Controller of the SAF of Botafogo, John Textor has already defined the profile of the coach that the club intends to attack on the market before starting the interview period, this Monday (22). Namely: offensive, modern football, with goalkeeper construction, an efficient finish in the final third and great tactical variability. These characteristics bring together the desire of Mais do Tradicional of Martín Anselmi, a technician who has been unemployed since July.

Textor adds that he wants someone more energetic near the pitch, active and with more solutions to improve the team in the second half of matches, something that Botafogo did not have with Davide Ancelotti, more low profile. Despite a ten-game unbeaten run, the Italian, who left Glorioso this week, has at times irritated supporters due to his lack of these qualities.

Anselmi, in fact, did not do a good job in Porto. There he failed to win any titles and was eliminated in the group stage of the Club World Cup. However, before Portugal, the Argentine did very well at Independiente Del Valle (ECU), the club with which he won the Copa Sudamericana 2022 and the Recopa 2023. The latter, in fact, against the powerful Flamengo.

Textor also targets the altitude factor

The Argentinian is also looked upon favorably for knowing how to play at altitude. After all, he was working in Quito, at 2,850 meters above sea level. In February, Botafogo made its debut in the Copa Libertadores, in Bolivia, in La Paz or Potosí, two cities with even higher altitudes and increasingly rarefied air.

Despite his sympathy for Anselmi, Botafogo is analyzing other names and wants to resolve the coach’s problem as quickly as possible. Glorioso attacked Rafael Guanaes, from Mirassol, but without success.
