The Pumas 7s took second place at the Cape Town Sevens. This matched the second leg of the World Tour, losing in the final to South Africa 21 to 19 In the overall standings they climbed from last to sixth place.
The Argentine team, who finished eighth in Dubai a week ago, began their participation in Group B with victories over Australia (36 to 0) and France (24 to 19). It then lost to Spain 31-26, but reached the semi-finals where it beat Fiji 29-21.
The Albiceleste added 18 units and is in sixth place in the standings with 24. Eight of the three leaders are South Africa, Fiji and New Zealand. The French team is fourth with 28 points and Australia is fifth with 26 points. Great Britain has 18 points and Spain 16.
The team led by Santiago Gomez Cora they shaped it Santiago Álvarez, Martiniano Arrieta, Juan Patricio Batac, Lautaro Bazán Vélez, Sebastián Dubuc, Luciano González Rizzoni, Matteo Graziano, Valentín Maldonado, Eliseo Morales, Santiago Mare, Marcos Moneta, Pedro de Haro, Santiago Vera Feld and Santino Zangara.
The format of the World Tour is different from that of previous editions. Initially, six stages will be held with eight participants, as opposed to the 12 there were last season, namely Argentina, Australia, Fiji, France, Great Britain, New Zealand, South Africa and Spain. They all meet in Dubai (United Arab Emirates), Cape Town (South Africa), Kallang (Singapore), Perth (Australia), Vancouver (Canada) and New York (USA).
Then there are three more finals called the SVNS World Championship. There are also the four best teams from SVNS 2, the second league of the World Tour, i.e. 12 participants. First it will be played in Hong Kong, then in Valladolid (Spain) and then in Bordeaux (France). The champion will be announced exactly at the end of the final weekend of action.
